SPED Teacher – Moderate Needs for 2019 2020

Job Description:    Challenge to Excellence Charter School is in search of a full time  FTE Moderate Needs Teacher to serve elementary special education students.

Moderate needs teachers are responsible for the provision of an individualized service delivery model that utilizes inclusive practices through a combination of special education support provided in and outside of the general education classroom environment. Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge and skill regarding effective instruction, the assimilation of technology into the learning environment, and the ability to individualize instruction based on cognitive, social, emotional, and adaptive functioning. Applicants should have demonstrated knowledge of child development and behavior management in the setting of the general education classroom as well as a small group environment.  Applicants should have demonstrated effective case management skills, effective written and oral communication skills, in addition to knowledge and expertise with developing and maintaining IEPs.  Applicants should also have the ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with school personnel, students, and parents.  Applicants should be able to demonstrate understanding and empathy necessary for working with students and their families and have a demonstrated desire to function as a team member.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintaining complete and accurate records of student progress and development
  • Complete accurate testing to identify student needs
  • Schedule and run IEP meetings with school personnel and parents
  • Develop comprehensive Individual Educational Plans to appropriately identify all student needs
  • Utilize technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources to use for educational instruction, activities, and data tracking
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction that facilitate learning and establish clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Work with classroom teachers to plan, organize and implement appropriate instruction in the learning environment to encourage students to meet their academic potential. This includes consulting with teachers on the use of accommodations in the general education classroom
  • Participate in team, school, and parent meetings
  • Maintain effective methods to manage student behavior in and outside of the general education classroom.

Certifications: Special Education Generalist License-Colorado Department of Education

Child Care – Program Leader

Description

This is a part-time position from 2:45 p.m to 6:00 p.m during regular school days.

Responsible for supporting the Director and Assistant Director in supervising children in various programs and unstructured activities. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of school-age children in various settings.
  • Actively engage and interact with children during operating hours.
  • Execute program and/or enrichment activities.
  • Enforce individual site behavioral expectations.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of equipment and materials in the program.
  • Administer minor first aid.
  • Conduct daily processes and duties required for opening, closing, and/or transitioning between sessions.
  • May work with special needs children.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

First Aid & CPR Certification (We can get your certified/re-certified.); Experience with working with children in a school or day care setting. High school diploma or college degree.

Job: Before & After School Program

One Year Only: No

Salary

Starting in a $12.00 range but commensurate with candidate’s experience.

Scheduled Hours Per Week: 15 to 18

Days Per Year: 173
