Gifted & Talented Referral Process
Here is a description of how the process works:
1. Student is referred by a parent, teacher, administrator, or self (yes, a student may refer him/herself!) by completing the C2E Gifted Referral Form
2. Within 30 days of us receiving the completed referral form, we will notify you that the referral process has started. We will collect a robust body of evidence (ability and aptitude normed test scores, parent input, teacher rating scale, student performance, possibly a student interview), and our GT identification team will review the data and make a determination.
4. One of three outcomes will occur – Yes, the student is identified; No, the student is not identified; OR the student is placed in the talent pool for a second look (we have some qualifying evidence, but not quite enough to identify the child, so we give the student challenge work to see how she/he performs and we will re-examine the evidence).
5. Parents are notified of the outcome via email.
6. If the child is found to be gifted, within 45 days, we will create an ALP (Advanced Learning Plan) that includes at least one academic and one affective (social/emotional) goal. These goals are set with the GT facilitator, the teacher in the area of giftedness, the child, and the parents.
