Curriculum Philosophy
At C2E, we prioritize a comprehensive academic curriculum that seamlessly complements our S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) integration. Our approach combines well-established, research-based methods with integrated technology to create exceptional learning experiences that prepare students for the real world. We use standards-aligned content from trusted sources, including FOSS Science & Discovery Education, HMH Into Math, Open Court Reading, Step Up to Writing, and TCI Social Studies. This selection of curriculum fosters an interdisciplinary learning environment that nurtures critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, all while aligning seamlessly with our mission and vision.
Math
C2E uses HMH Into Math as its curriculum program for K-8th grade. HMH Into Math is designed to engage and empower students, it aligns seamlessly with the dynamic and inquiry-driven environment of project-based learning. With a focus on critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world applications, HMH Math equips students with the mathematical skills and mindset they need to excel in project-based learning settings. This comprehensive curriculum not only supports academic achievement but also encourages students to explore, innovate, and connect mathematical concepts to their project work, fostering a deeper understanding of mathematics and its practical applications.
Reading
Open Court Reading is C2E’s primary K-5th grade curriculum with Studysync serving older students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Open Court Reading is a comprehensive and engaging literacy curriculum designed to ignite the love of reading and foster essential language skills. With a research-backed approach, it empowers young learners to become confident and proficient readers, promoting a lifelong passion for reading and learning. Studysyncis a complete ELA curriculum designed to meet the rigorous academic needs of today’s classroom. In print or online, StudySync is designed to engage every student, because every student deserves the same opportunity and access in the classroom, regardless of his or her native language, learning level or physical, social and emotional ability.
Writing
Step Up to Writing is a comprehensive and structured writing program designed to enhance our students’ writing skills across various grade levels. The curriculum focuses on providing students with a systematic approach to writing, breaking down the writing process into manageable steps. It goes beyond basic sentence construction, emphasizing organization, coherence, and critical thinking—all essential components for effective written communication across various academic disciplines.
Science
FOSS Science and Discovery Education curriculum equips our students for success across a broad spectrum of scientific domains, including physical science, life science, earth science, and space science, as outlined in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) within the Colorado State Standards.
Social Studies
TCI Social Studies curriculum is a dynamic and student-centered approach to teaching social studies. By combining interactive learning, inquiry-based methods, and a focus on critical thinking, TCI aims to create an enriching educational experience that prepares all C2E students for a well-rounded understanding of historical, cultural, and social concepts.
Specials
Students from Kindergarten to 5th grade follow a weekly specials schedule, rotating through art, music, physical education, Spanish, and STEM classes. Technology
At C2E, we ensure equitable technology access for all students by providing a 1:1 ratio of Chromebook computers for Kindergarten through 8th grade. These devices offer a secure and focused learning environment, integral to our curriculum, supporting in-school research, assignments, and assessments like CMAS and iReady. Student Chromebooks remain on school premises, and students use school-specific Gmail accounts and the G Suite for Education.
